Currents: Composers in Motion at the Wende Museum
An immersive evening of cinematic chamber music, contemporary composers, and movement at the Wende Museum. History moves like water. It carries memory, changes shape, and replenishes what comes next. CURRENTS: Composers in Motion brings cinematic music, live chamber performance, and movement artists into the Glorya Kaufman Center at the Wende Museum. The evening begins with a garden reception before the audience is invited into the theater. Inside, original works by contemporary composers unfold through live strings, piano, electronics, and movement. Each piece carries its own memory, perspective, and point of origin. Together, they form a shared current through identity, connection, transformation, and what history carries forward. At a museum named for the idea of a “turning point,” CURRENTS asks what changes with time, what remains with us, and what becomes possible when different creative voices meet. This is not a traditional concert. It is an intimate encounter with new music, the people who create it, and the stories moving beneath the surface. Featuring music by Emer Kinsella Duncan Thum Vivek Maddala Layla Minoui Yuichiro Oku Amit May Cohen Zack & Niki Hexum Performed live by the Emersion Ensemble, with movement artists and brief introductions connecting the music to its creative origins.
