BRTD Book Club - August 2026 | "None of This Is True" by Lisa Jewell
Hello and, as always, a warm welcome to all our new BRTD members!👋🏼 We will meet on the \fourth\ Saturday this time due to a scheduling conflict. Our next meeting will take place on Saturday, August 22nd at 5:30PM at Le Parc Cafe inside the Coral Gables Country Club (997 N Greenway Dr, Coral Gables, FL 33134). How It Works: A month(ish) prior to the next meetup, I will create the next event and announce the book we will be reading.📖 These will generally be in the mystery and thriller genre, of course. If anyone has suggestions or a book they've been wanting to read or that they read and loved that they feel would be good for this group, please don't hesitate to let me know! For those of you who haven't joined us before: We order drinks/food, I will have some questions for you (love hearing your thoughts!), and the rest is a free-flowing discussion. This month's read is "None of This Is True" by Lisa Jewell. This unputdownable psychological thriller by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell follows a woman who finds herself the subject of her own popular true crime podcast. "Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins. A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life. Josie’s life appears to be strange and complicated, and although Alix finds her unsettling, she can’t quite resist the temptation to keep making the podcast. Slowly she starts to realize that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it, Josie has inveigled her way into Alix’s life—and into her home. But, as quickly as she arrived, Josie disappears. Only then does Alix discover that Josie has left a terrible and terrifying legacy in her wake, and that Alix has become the subject of her own true crime podcast, with her life and her family’s lives under mortal threat. Who is Josie Fair? And what has she done?" “The book’s unreliable narrator, dark twists and unending suspense will keep you on edge until the very last page.” —NPR "If you liked Verity by @colleenhoover, I think you'll like this one!" —EMILY HENRY, New York Times bestselling author "This novel is one of Jewell's best: a gloriously dark, glittering creepfest..." —AMAZON BOOK REVIEW August Event WHEN: Saturday, August 22nd WHERE: Le Parc Cafe (Coral Gables Country Club) TIME: 5:30PM As always, I look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting. I hope you all enjoy the book but if not, at least we'll have a great time discussing it!
