Hike: Shek Pik Reservoir to Tung Chung MTR Station in Lantau Island
Hike from Shek Pik Reservoir to Tung Chung MTR Station in Lantau Island Difficulty Level: 3 Distance: 19 km Time: 6 hours Description: This hike has a steady rise in elevation. The views along the way are spectacular. We'll see the reservoir and outlying islands in the distance and then immerse ourselves in the forest as we meander upwards to the Big Buddha. The first half of the hike is natural earth and the other half consists of wooden and concrete stairs. The very last part of the path is paved and flat. Some highlights: Along the way we'll pass by the Shek Pik Reservoir, the Wisdom Path and the Big Buddha. This hike is rocky as we navigate upwards to the Big Buddha and many stairs going downwards towards the Tung Chung MTR station. What to bring: 3-4 liters of water Snacks to eat along the way (sandwich, fruits, nuts, etc) Hiking shoes with good support Sunglasses Headgear (cap/hat) Sunscreen Bug Spray In case of Rain: plan accordingly Toilets: There are at least 2 toilets along the way. Stores: Let's have a quick lunch at Ngong Ping. There are several restaurants and cafes at Ngong Ping (Big Buddha) selling drinks and snacks. Meeting Point: Central Pier 6 (Central to Mui Wo in Lantau Island). NOTE: If your plan is to meet us at the Mui Wo Ferry Terminal in Lantau Island, we'll see you at around 10:30/45 am. Time: 9:40 am (The ferry departs at 9:50 am SHARP!)
