Rust's extended standard library

Tue 11 Aug · 4pm · Microsoft Bryanston

The Rust standard library is relatively small compared to other languages. Out of the box, it doesn't have regular expressions, serialization, or even a standard way to represent dates. Rust projects fill these gaps with external crates. Some crates are so widely used that they feel like they should be built in. They feel like Rust's extended standard library. Join us for a discussion on why this is the case, and a tour of some of the must-know crates for being effective in Rust. ⚠️ New to rust? Arrive early (5:45pm) for setup help. ⏰ Schedule: 18:00-18:30: Networking with refreshments (join other tech communities) 18:30-20:00: Main session 🎯 Who should attend: Those who attended our previous sessions Developers with basic Rust knowledge who want to know more about the language Anyone curious about Rust Programmers from other languages wanting to see what makes Rust special 📋 What to bring: Your laptop with Rust installed (we can help if needed) Questions from your own coding experiments Experience with other languages (we love comparisons!) This session is perfect for anyone wanting to get into deeper Rust projects! Looking forward to seeing returning Rustaceans and welcoming new faces! 🦀
