Wild plants in African + European folktales (+ BYO picnic)

So excited to announce that Marcus Fagon is joining our Sunday sessions to share folktales between the trees as we learn about plants and their stories. "Marcus creates beautiful spaces where African and European folklore come to life through oral storytelling. He is of dual heritage — Black: Afro-Caribbean and White: European. The intention is for every performance to be a dialogue, between ancient ancestral images, present lives, and Africa and Europe. The outcome is hopefully a magical and mystical exploration on what it means to be alive on planet earth today." Open to all, as always, whatever your experience of foraging or storytelling so far, this is a collective space for people who want to meet for walking together, making new friends, sharing thoughts and learning new things. What to expect: 2pm - meet at Conham River Car Park, Conham Hill, BS15 3AW. We'll be wandering through, stopping at plants and learning about their properties, whilst we hear different tales of reflection on inheritance, belonging, and legacy. We'll have lots of opportunity to chat, ask questions, share knowledge, recipes and experiences. 4pm - we will stop somewhere to share lunch, either on the grass or under the trees - weather dependent - so please bring something to sit on to make you feel comfortable for the picnic. 5pm - leave the park What to bring: - notepads\, something to sit on and everything you'd need for a comfortable time outside like water\, comfy clothes and sturdy shoes - tupperware if you'd like to take home any plants we find - BYO picnic lunch dish to share - vegan and gluten free preferred but not obligatory! Travel: the meeting point is Conham River Car Park, Conham Hill, BS15 3AW. It is at the bottom of Conham Hill. The number 44, 45, 46 all stop nearby + a 14min walk down Conham Hill (steep). We'll start and end at Conham River Car Park. Accessibility: Conham River has a mix of gravelly paths, we can keep to the footpaths as much as possible, but some areas are a little tricky for wheelchair users, please get in touch if you'd like to join but are unsure and I can share more info on how we can adapt our walk for you, no problem.
