Stop-and-Shop Tour Ohlsdorf - Gut Stegen - Ohlstedt or Ohlsdorf Details: We will meet on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Bahnhof Ohlsdorf, Fuhlsbüttler Straße exit. ATTENTION: The U-Bahn line U1 will be closed for three months starting July 13 between the Lattenkamp and Fuhlsbüttel Nord stations. Therefore, arrival is only possible via the S-Bahn. You can join us from 11:45 AM along the U-Bahn-Wanderweg Volksdorf heading towards Ohlstedt. Phone: 015201980062 Length of the tour via Gut Stegen to U-Ohlstedt: approx. 38 kilometers (see screenshot 1) Length of the tour back to Ohlsdorf: approx. 58 kilometers (see screenshot 2) Due to construction work in the forest, 4-5 kilometers will be cut. Trail conditions: up to Wiemerskamp, hiking trails and roads are in perfect condition with no inclines. From Wiemerskamp, the route goes through farms, across a field, and along beaten paths to Gut Stegen, and then through the forest. Extending the tour back to Ohlsdorf requires either muscle power or enough battery life due to the inclines. Pace and duration will be determined by trail conditions and the fitness level of the participants. Stop for refreshments at the Hofcafe Gut Stegen (see title photo). Details: We will ride through the Ohlsdorfer Friedhof, Wellingsbüttel, Berner Au, and Volksdorfer Wald directly to Volksdorf (approx. 13-14 km) and then use the U-Bahn-Wanderweg to Ohlstedt (approx. 5 km). Anyone who does not want to start in Ohlsdorf can join us there. We will reach Volksdorf at 11:45 AM at the earliest, but we will not be stopping at the station itself. We will take a short break at Bahnhof Ohlstedt and then head into the Wohldorfer Wald nature reserve. Passing by Kupferredder and Ammersbek/Kupferteich, the Kufermühle fish ladder, and a village with small half-timbered houses, we will reach a dirt road that leads us directly to Brook-Hus (NABU). Between Wohldorfer Wald and Duvenstedter Brook, we will use the road to Wiemerskamp, which is rarely used by cars, ride through the village, and then cross a field directly to Krögersweg, which leads to the Hofcafe (see title photo) of Gut Stegen. After a generous break, we will unfortunately have to ride for 2 kilometers on the bike lanes of main roads, passing the Alsterschleuse restaurant and the old Heidkrug, to find a good entry point into the forest for our return journey. We will cross the Alster—which is still a wild stream here—and follow the course of the Alster along the edge of the forest to Duvenstedt, then cycle through the Wohldorfer Wald back to the U-Bahnhof Ohlstedt, where you have the opportunity to end the tour and grab a quick ice cream. If you would like to keep cycling, I will show you the Rodebeker Quellental. Along the Alster, there are then 3 inclines. The next one would be near the Alte Mühle restaurant in Bergstedt. (Cancelled due to construction work in the forest: But we will skip these and take a detour through the 70-hectare Hainesch Iland nature and bird reserve (https://www.hamburg.de/politik-und-verwaltung/behoerden/bukea/themen/naturschutz/naturschutzgebiete/hainesch-173388). We will cross the pristine valley of the Saselbek up to Saseler Chaussee and then ride back along the edge of the forest, catching a quick glimpse down at the Mühlenteich, but we will stay at the top and soon reach the Alster again via side streets, where we will continue cycling towards Ohlsdorf.) At the Alte Mühle, we will ride up the incline after all and will soon be close to the S1 in Poppenbüttel. I will cycle all the way back to Ohlsdorf.
