洋書輪読会/Reading Circle for both Japanese and Foreign People
This meetup is to help foreign people to learn/improve their Japanese. It will also help Japanese people to learn/improve their English. How do we do these two different things. We use easy books/stories written in English. Participants take turns to read a page/paragraph out loud. After reading out loud, we will talk about each page/paragraph entirely in Japanese. This way we provide foreign members a good place to practice their Japanese and its current culture as well as to help Japanese members to better understand English by someone giving explanation in Japanese. We are an in-person group. We physically meet in a cafe in Uji City, which is located south of Kyoto City. Our meetup will last between 60 and 90 minutes. Your Japanese/English does not have to be fluent/perfect as long as you are willing and prepared to make an effort to learn/improve your Japanese/English. Regarding the book we use is the one in the photo. You can easily get your copy from Amazon or something called ”Mercari”, which is an online second-hand book store. If you are unable to get your copy, it's still okay. We can make photo copies of the relevant pages.
