FREE Intro Square Dance Party

Come join us for a free taste of Modern Square Dancing, on Jul 29 or Aug 19, before our new class starts on Aug 26. No experience required! There will be pizza (and other goodies)! Lake Merritt Dance Center in Oakland (Veterans Memorial Bldg). Modern Square Dancing is a fun way to get some exercise and meet new friends. We learn the names of the basic movements and then do them on the fly to the instructions of a live caller. It's like an adult game of Simon Says with a team of 8 people all going in different directions, in time to a variety of music. You don't have to be a dancer; you just have to follow directions and walk in patterns. No experience required. No dance skill required. Come on your own or with a partner. Our friendly club members will help you through the whole process! Casual dress. Comfortable shoes with soles that aren't too grippy. No alcohol. No smoking.
