Galiano Island. New Date, Earlier Return. Meet Bridgeport Bay 12 @ 8.45am.
NEW INFORMATION & INSTRUCTIONS 1. Changed from Thursday August 6 to Wednesday August 5. Because Thursday ferry gets back late. Ferry now leaves Galiano at 4.45pm and takes 50 minutes. Budget one hour at least from then until back in Vancouver downtown area. 2. MEET at Bridgeport Station Bay 12 at 8.45am. Express bus leaves 9am. Any later bus gets to ferry too late for our boarding. It’s a slow and laborious process. 3. I’m on Galiano right now, investigating transportation options. Looking into private taxi or Uber for 10km ride each way between Sturdies Bay and Montague Harbour. 4. There will be a daytrip to Mayne Island this August, and another Galiano outing - on a different day of the week. Depends on transportation options. Folk may need to rent e-bikes. $70 for four hours, but that’s too much, do split that for two folk two hours each. I’m investigating. There’s shuttle between Sturdies and Montague for e-bike renters :) ———————————- Galiano is an absolute gem, and is the closest Gulf Island (other than Bowen) to Vancouver, the ferry is only 55 minutes each way. The ferry is free for over 65, and $21 for others - PASSENGERS rate. The return fare is half the outgoing fare. Please don’t bring a car.
