Bebate Night: Alcohol under scrutiny
Alcohol occupies a complex place in society, where it is associated both with potential harms and with long-standing cultural and social traditions. Its consumption raises ongoing questions about public health, individual behaviour, and the balance between personal freedom and collective responsibility. Discussions around alcohol often consider a range of perspectives, including the risks of misuse and addiction, the impact on health and wellbeing, and the broader social consequences. At the same time, alcohol has historically played a role in cultural practices, social interaction, and certain traditions, leading to continued debate about its place in modern life. Key themes in this area include regulation, social norms, personal responsibility, and whether current approaches to alcohol in society adequately address its challenges while acknowledging its established role. Whether you enjoy your pints or are a tea drinker join us to discuss at Brussels Debaters! This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into four teams of two. Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen.
