Board Games in the Park

Tomorrow · 7pm · Concord Community Park

This is an outdoor tabletop gaming event. Free to attend, all are welcome. We will be bringing an assortment of about 30-40 games that work well outdoors (see list below). Most are windy-day-friendly - meaning they either don't have any cards, or minimal cards. We have extra dice to weigh things down if needed, to minimize the risk of things blowing away in the wind. You're welcome to bring your own games, but we recommend games with few or no cards so they don't blow away. The event runs from noon until sunset or approximately 9:00pm, which is when the park closes (whichever is earlier). Some people come for the whole time, others just for an hour or two. You're welcome to drop in and stay as long as you would like. In case of poor weather, we will cancel the event with as much notice as possible. Transportation: The park is right across from the Main St./Science World Skytrain Station. For those who are driving there's plenty of pay parking close by. Suggestions to bring: - Water - Food (There are some close quick options - McDonald's\, Triple O's takeout window\, etc) - Sun protection (sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses). - Hand sanitizer Other stuff: You are welcome to come on your own; there are a few volunteers who can help people get into groups, and teach games if needed. If any of the games are missing pieces, the dry-erase markers aren't working, etc, please let one of the volunteers know. We usually have extras. If anyone is being a jerk, please let a volunteer know. Sometimes people just aren't aware of their jerkiness; sometimes they need to be booted. Please keep an eye on your personal belongings. The organizers and volunteers are not responsible for lost/missing items. Photos and/or videos may be taken throughout the event - usually wider shots of numerous people, like the poster above. If you don't want to appear in any photos or videos, please let us know when you arrive and we will try to not include you, though we can't guarantee it. Washrooms: There are several port-a-potties within the park. If you prefer a "real" washroom, with running water, the closest one is about a 5-10 minute walk, at Andy Livingstone Park, right next to the tennis courts. Games may include: Animal Upon Animal Azul Blokus Cartagena Century Gollum Edition The Chameleon Codenames Crosstalk Draftosaurus Go Nuts for Donuts Hey, That's My Fish! Kingdomino Kingdomino Duel Kingdomino Giant Version LLAMA Mahjong New York Slice No Thanks! Patchwork Qwirkle Railroad Ink Rhino Hero Skull Splendor Spyfall Survive: Escape from Atlantis! Sushi Go Party Telestrations Party Pack Twice As Clever Wildlife Safari Wits & Wagers Deluxe Edition Word on the Street If you have any questions or want to reach out to other attendees, a great way to do so is through the Vancouver Boardgamers Discord server: https://discord.gg/R5uG5vGjxq You're also welcome to leave any questions in the comments for this event. Hope to see you there! Happy Gaming.
