60 Years Strong: Wear WHITE | Birthday w/ Marcia Carr / DJ Spen / Afronaut / Paris Cesvette
DRESS CODE: - ALL WHITE Marcia Carr - DJ, selector, broadcaster and long-time pillar of UK music culture - is celebrating a very special birthday by doing what she loves most: bringing people together around music. âI thought, why not jubilate about making it? Iâm here - thank God, so I am seizing the opportunity,â says Marcia. âAnd some of my good DJ friends are joining me to raise a glass and toast with me.â DRESS CODE: Wear WHITE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM The celebration takes place at London's BBE Store, running from 2pm until 11pm, with free entry and a simple rule: dancing room only. Expect an afternoon-to-evening session filled with deep grooves, retro vinyl cuts, and choice digital selections - all played by friends whoâve shared dancefloors, radio waves and record bags with Marcia over the years. Joining her on the day (with more names to be announced) are: Quantize Recordings boss DJ Spen, Orin Afronaut (CoOperation Recs, Bugz In The Attic, Mousetrap & Bruk Jazz), Paris Cesvette (Quantize Recordings, OPOM), Russell Ruckman (Soul Damn Funky), and Roy Westfield (Deep Soul Connection / Snake & Dagger). Collectively, theyâll bless the booth with music that reflects severalmdecades of mutual connections, shared history and love for the culture of Black music. Marcia has one request for everyone coming through: dress in white - head to toe, smartly done. And bring a rag or flannel, because this partyâs going to get hot and sweaty. âI want to see all my friends at once,â she says. This isnât about big announcements or fanfare - itâs about celebrating life, longevity and the Underground community. A proper gathering to mark sixty years going strong, surrounded by good music, movement and people whoâve also been part of her journey. Weâre raising a glass and partying hard for the Birthday Queen. Come to party: WEAR EVERYTHING WHITE!
