Silent Green Open Lab 9: JKZQ + franna

After a successful first edition in 2025, we are excited to continue silent green Open Lab – a format for Berlin-based musicians, and performance artists who are taking their first steps onto the stage. JKZQ JKZQ is a Berlin-based duo formed by Wang Ze-Qing and Jakob Stæterstad, working with guitar distortion and mixing console feedback as core elements of their improvisations, blurring the line between digital and analog through routing. franna Berlin-based artist franna explores the creation and negotiation of polarity through sound. Tapes, field recordings, and gentle vocals enter into dialogue with amplified, distorted, and manipulated cello textures. Influenced by experimental pop and ambient soundscapes as much as by noise, her work navigates inner states of boredom and overstimulation, searching for slowness and intensity simultaneously as an act of deliberate ambiguity. In her live performances, drones and ambient tapes oscillate between structured song forms and improvised soundscapes. Her debut album will be released in 2027 on the Berlin label subsidized time.
