Yuja Wang directs the Mahler Chamber Orchestra from the keyboard over two nights at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall, on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 November 2026. Each concert starts at 7:30pm and runs about two hours with one interval. Hong Kong opens the orchestra's Asia tour with Wang, and both dates sit in the 20th Anniversary Season of Premiere Performances of Hong Kong, which first brought Wang to the city in September 2009. The programmes differ: 9 November is all Brahms, with Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15 and Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 83. On 10 November the concertos are Kapustin's No. 4 and Tsfasman's Jazz Suite, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra also plays Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 'Classical' and Mozart's Symphony No. 29, performing those two symphonies without a conductor while Wang leads the concertos from the piano. Only listeners aged 8 or above are admitted. Anyone arriving late may be held at the door until a gap in the programme, and the presenter may decline entry. Ticketing runs through the presenter, Premiere Performances of Hong Kong, at pphk.org.
Seventeen years after her sensational Hong Kong debut with Premiere Performances in 2009, piano powerhouse Yuja Wang makes a triumphant return to our stage for the 20th Anniversary Season, joined by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra for two barnstorming nights
