Cristiano Chieppa built a complete DCC command station on bare-metal ESP32 in Rust, generating DCC wave signals and handling both Roco's Z21 UDP protocol and the bidirectional RailCom standard. He brings the hardware and actual model locomotives to run live on the night.

Chieppa is a backend and embedded developer with over thirty years in software engineering, three of them in Rust after a long stretch of C++. The session covers zero-cost abstractions on bare-metal ESP32, real-time UDP handling, and memory safety under hard hardware constraints. The repo is open at github.com/cc90202/DCC-esp32.

Doors 18:30, talk and demo 18:45, Q&A 19:30, pizza and drinks from 20:00. Free, in English, intermediate level, hosted by Kalpa and co-organised with Italian Embedded. Seats are capped by room size.

Why go: embedded Rust talks that end in a working physical demo are rare, and this one is specific enough to be useful. Best for embedded and systems engineers, and anyone curious what Rust looks like off the server.
