Claude Have Mercy: What's AI Doing to Our Jobs?
Downloads an .ics file · Times are in Europe/London · Google Calendar
Kester Brewin, Associate Director at the Institute for the Future of Work, on what AI is doing to jobs: which ones are changing, what it means for people entering the workforce, and what five centuries of anxiety about intelligent machines tell us about this round. Part of Brazen's Community Track.
Brewin draws on his book GODLIKE: A 500-Year History of Artificial Intelligence in Myths, Machines, Monsters. He has written for the Guardian and presented on BBC Radio 4, and the evening is built to be funny and highly participatory rather than a lecture. Doors 18:30, talk 19:45 to 22:00 at Dareshack. Tickets zero to twenty pounds, pay what you can. AI West run their Conversations on AI panel at KPMG earlier the same evening, a short walk away.
Why go: the jobs question usually gets handled by economists or by vendors. This is a researcher who studies work for a living, in a room that wants arguments back. Best for students, career-changers and anyone managing a team through this.
