Thursday Gathering 36

Venture Café Edinburgh's weekly Thursday Gathering, the thirty-sixth edition, at the Edinburgh Futures Institute on Lauriston Place.

The Gathering is the city's standing open-door startup evening: free, no application, drop in from 17:00 and stay as long as it is useful, with parallel sessions and an open networking floor running to around 20:00. It is part of the Venture Café network, which runs the same Thursday format across several European cities, and in Edinburgh it has become the most reliable weekly fixture in the ecosystem — the room where founders, students, investors and support organisations turn up without a reason.

Why go: in a December week when most programming has stopped, this is the one evening that still runs. Best for founders who want conversations rather than a talk, and for anyone new to the city's tech scene looking for a single front door.
