Greentech Hackathon

A one-day hackathon from CodeBase's Edinburgh Greentech Growth and Scale Programme, building rough prototypes against challenges facing Scotland's natural environment. No hacking, tech or startup experience needed — students, founders, creatives and environmental people are all in scope.

The format is short talks on tools and approaches, then most of the day working alone or in small teams: generate ideas, test them, get something buildable on the table by 16:00. CodeBase facilitators and Greentech programme staff are on hand. AI tools are used throughout, and the organisers are explicit that the point is pointing them at problems worth solving. Free, six hours at Castle Terrace.

Why go: it is a crash course in greentech startup process rather than a talk about one, and you leave with something you made. Best for anyone circling a climate or environment idea who hasn't yet tried to build it.
