Multilingual Workshop Dublin: Translation and AI
Downloads an .ics file · Times are in Europe/Dublin · Google Calendar
The third Multilingual Workshop at DCU, on translation and AI and the trade-off between what the technology gives and what it costs. Registration from 09:00, close at 13:50.
Dr Joss Moorkens of DCU's School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies opens with Pol O Gradaigh of the European Commission. Tomas Svoboda of Charles University speaks on translation technology and sustainability, and Artur Queiroz, who heads AI-based services at the Commission's Directorate-General for Translation, on building AI for European values. Three roundtables cover human-centred AI in translation, imagined futures for the profession, and AI translation during cascading crises, with speakers from DCU, Zoetis, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the DGT.
The workshop is hybrid; this listing is the in-person room at DCU Business School. Free.
Why go: the people who run translation AI at EU scale, in a room small enough to argue with them. Best for anyone building or buying language technology.
