Mahjong - Learn & Play at Board Games Arboretum in West End Toronto

Whether you’ve been playing for years or trying for the first time, this event offers something for everyone. Come as a group or solo and we can help pair you with a table to play at. Our events are a great way to connect with members of local communities and are perfect for folks arriving in Toronto looking to meet new people.

The event will include a run-down of the rules for new players or anyone who wants them, while those seeking to test their skills will be paired together for a fun afternoon of gaming.

What is Mahjong?: An ancient game originating in China in the 19th century, Mahjong is enjoying increasing popularity around the world. The game involves collecting sets of tiles known as melds by drawing and discarding those tiles and claiming the discards of other players. There are many variations of Mahjong, we will be playing American Mahjong at this event.

Join us at our new home, the Board Games Arboretum, to learn and play the classic historical tile set-collecting game Mahjong! We have partnerships with local food and drink venues and welcome all food and non-alcoholic beverages into the space while we’re having fun drawing and discarding tiles. Tickets for this event are $25 or $20 for Changeling Members.
