The Departed Dawn

The Departed Dawn is influenced by the crisis of forcefully displaced global refugees and takes references from the Lhotsampa people (Nepali-speaking Bhutanese refugees). The play starts from a journey of seeking a place called home. It then slowly delves into the process of building a cordial environment through hardship and struggle. Eventually, ‘home’ is born. A time comes again when the home faces external sinister forces. Failing to defend it from such brute circumstances might mean the people are forced out, never to be able to see the dawn from their homes again. Home is packed away in a small baggage and so begins an unknown, perilous, ill-fated journey where loved ones perish along the way. The play stands at the crossroads of memories and the seemingly impossible idea of returning home.
