`Mia and the Fish` is a story of two refugee sisters, Mia and Halima. Along with them is a talking fish, Samaki, which is a metaphor for hope. All of them are forced to migrate and cope with a completely new world. On the surface, it`s their story of survival, friendship, and finding belonging. But deeper down, it is about our Ocean. It is about the invisible and devastating impact of deep sea mining, and how it displaces not just marine life, but human lives and emotions too. It matters because this is not just fiction. Climate migration, ecological damage, and conflict due to resource extraction are realities of our time. Children are often the most affected by these adult decisions, yet they are rarely part of the conversation. Through this play, we are giving children a language to talk about climate change, privilege, ego, and empathy. The Ocean is the silent witness to all human hopes, sorrows, and greed. In this play it breathes, reacts, and sings through lyrics and rhythms. Nature is not separate from us. When we wound the sea, we wound ourselves. In times of a storm - literal and emotional - it is only compassion, collective responsibility, and acceptance that will help us survive. It`s a reminder that even in adverse conditions, humanity and friendship can still find a way.
