Patra Patri

A heartwarming and witty exploration of friendship, as Marathi theatre veterans Dilip Prabhavalkar and Vijay Kenkre bring to life the charming correspondence between two old friends navigating the comic twists of a changing world.

Two icons of Marathi theatre, Dilip Prabhavalkar and Vijay Kenkre, share the stage in a warm and witty play built around a lively correspondence between two lifelong friends. As Tatyasaheb journeys to Paris and finds himself with time to reflect, he pens a letter to his friend Madhavrao in Mumbai. Madhavrao’s replies spark an ongoing exchange, with each handwritten note turning everyday happenings into comic anecdotes and thoughtful musings.

Through their letters, the friends navigate the quirks and confusions of a rapidly changing world, each responding with his own blend of innocence and old-world charm. Prabhavalkar’s script introduces a cast of eccentric characters and unexpected situations, balancing playful humour with gentle satire and moments of quiet reflection on the absurdities of modern life.

Directed by Vijay Kenkre, the production blends dramatic reading and performance, as both actors bring to life the imagined scenes and personalities conjured in their correspondence. Presented by Badaam Raja Productions, this is ultimately a tender, humorous portrait of friendship, celebrating the enduring bonds and small joys that hold us together, even as the world around us shifts.
