Massi's Yard Brunch Birmingham

Don't tell
Massi
we're throwing the UK's biggest
old-school desi daytimer
in her
Yard!

Multi-award-winning Shaanti
proudly presents Massi’s Yard Brunch – a vibrant celebration of
British South Asian music and culture. Featuring the best of 90s
and 00s Bhangra, Desi Beats, and Bollywood vibes, this brunch
promises an unforgettable experience filled with nostalgia, great
music, and delicious flavors.

Join us as we celebrate two
decades of groundbreaking music and culture that brought us iconic
moments like Goodness Gracious Me and Bend It Like Beckham! The
’90s and ’00s were a golden era for British South Asian culture,
with Bhangra bands like Alaap, Apna Sangeet, and Heera setting the
stage for a musical revolution. It was a time when Panjabi MC’s
global smash Beware of the Boys featuring Jay-Z brought Desi beats
to the mainstream, alongside legends like Malkit Singh and Stereo
Nation.

This was the era where the
worlds of hip-hop and Bollywood collided, with artists like Truth
Hurts, Raki, Erick Sermon, Redman, and Kanye West embracing
Bollywood vibes. Meanwhile, home-grown talents like RDB, Dr Zeus,
B21, Tigerstyle,
Juttla,
Surinder Rattan, Metz and Trix released unforgettable anthems that
became the soundtrack of a generation.

British Asian pioneers like
Bally Sagoo, Cornershop, Apache Indian, and The Rishi Rich Project
featuring Jay Sean and Juggy D dominated the UK charts, while
Wolverhampton-born Jas Mann’s Spaceman reached number one on the UK
Singles Chart. Join us as we relive this remarkable time of
cultural and musical harmony!

The ’90s also marked the rise of
the groundbreaking Asian Underground movement. Visionary artists
like Talvin Singh, Joi, Nitin Sawhney, State of Bengal, M.I.A, UK
Apache, Badmarsh, and Shri were reshaping musical boundaries and
making waves globally. It was an era when cultural fusion

flourished—Madonna embraced henna, Gwen Stefani
made the bindi iconic, and East is East introduced us to the
unforgettable catchphrase: “You bloody
basta£%!”

Massi’s Yard Brunch will
transport you back to the vibrant ’90s and early 2000s with an epic
mix of classic Bollywood, Bhangra, Desi Beats, R&B, and Hip-Hop
tunes. Kick off your experience with a complimentary Rum Punch
during the first hour, then dance your way through five hours of
the best British Asian music from these unforgettable decades.
Plus, enjoy delicious street food from the in-house kitchen
(T&Cs apply—see below).

Join us for an unmissable
celebration of iconic music, culture, and
nostalgia!
