Christian Sands Trio | HSL Tucson Jazz Festival

($45-$55 + Ticket Fees | 6:30pm & 8:30pm Shows) Five-time GRAMMY®-nominated pianist and Steinway Artist Christian Sands brings his acclaimed trio to The Century Room for an evening of fearless creativity and masterful swing. Widely regarded as one of the defining pianists of his generation, Sands draws effortlessly from stride, bebop, gospel, Afro-Cuban rhythms, classical music, and modern jazz, creating performances that honor the tradition while constantly moving it forward. As bassist Christian McBride observed, Sands possesses "the drive, passion and skill" of jazz's very best—a musician committed only to becoming "the best musician he can possibly be."

From appearances with Wynton Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Yo-Yo Ma, Terence Blanchard, and Christian McBride to residencies at the Monterey Jazz Festival and acclaimed recordings for Mack Avenue Records, Sands has established himself as one of today's most compelling artistic voices. His latest album, Embracing Dawn, continues that evolution, blending lyrical storytelling, rich orchestration, and adventurous improvisation into a deeply personal musical statement.

In the intimate setting of The Century Room, Sands' extraordinary touch, rhythmic imagination, and expressive range come fully alive. Whether exploring a timeless standard or an original composition, he transforms every performance into a conversation between tradition and innovation—one filled with elegance, spontaneity, and unforgettable musical discovery.

"...Christian Sands plays with a restrained touch and a rolling command across the entire keyboard."
