Brighton Sundae w/ Matthew Herbert (DJ set)

Brighton Sundae is back at Patterns after our summer break, and we're returning with an absolute corker. Making a rare Brighton DJ appearance, our September guest is the legendary composer, producer, artist and DJ Matthew Herbert. For decades, Herbert has been redefining electronic music, creating groundbreaking work from the sounds of everything from fast food wrappers and Fleet Street sewers to an orgasm, a bomb exploding in Libya, 20,000 dogs and countless everyday objects. His acclaimed albums include Bodily Functions, Around The House and One Pig, each pushing the boundaries of what music can be. A multiple Ivor Novello nominee and winner of the 2023 Innovation Award, Herbert has also composed scores for the Oscar-winning A Fantastic Woman, National Theatre productions and TV series including Noughts + Crosses and The Responder. He's performed worldwide, from the Sydney Opera House to the Hollywood Bowl. His DJ sets are as inventive as his productions, often featuring his own remixes. As a remixer he's worked with artists including Depeche Mode, Björk, Moloko, Quincy Jones, Ennio Morricone, Serge Gainsbourg and Mahler.
