SISTERS | LIVE AT THE CASTLE MANCHESTER

Conceptually, ‘Sisters’ was born in many different places at many different times. The weepy-ethereal-grunge-rock band first took up in the form of itself in Liverpool after five unsuspecting musicians who all moved to university to study music often found themselves ending up in a room together making music. The lead singer named Gigi was born in Brooklyn, New York but somehow ended up in Michigan at 16 to study music in the more traditional folk sense. It’s here where she met the drummer of Sisters called James who moved to Michigan from upstate New York to study percussion. Seemingly, the folk scene wasn’t enough. So they went to university with the intention of studying a genre more eccentric and heavy. The rest of the band was initially scattered across the globe as well; Odelia who plays bass being from Baltimore, Mira who plays synth being from Switzerland, and Lewis who appears to be the only brit in the band despite the grounds that hold the band’s initial form. Lewis is from a small town outside of London but he, like the rest of us, no longer calls it home. Instead the whole band currently lives in Liverpool and the members are all almost graduated from university. When Sisters hit the Liverpool scene it didn’t take them very long to get on the good side of audience members, local press, and promoters. In only one year of being a band they have had their tracks played on BBC radio, headlined Rough Trade, and completed an east coast tour in America. They’ve also been featured in local press and cool performance showcases all over the North West attaining articles from Boot magazine, landing a performance slot and interview for New Cult which is Heist or Hit’s showcase night in Manchester, and recently Sisters played a set of four songs which were professionally recorded by Low Four studios in Manchester and they are soon to do another at Studio Duke in Manchester. Next they will be embarking on a UK tour of eight cities and they are incredibly excited. The tour will take place over the course of two weeks spanning from July 28th to August 8th and it will feature local artists in every city they play. Everyone is ecstatic for what’s to come, don’t be the one to miss it.
