Incredible Society Presents: James Howard (album launch), Me Lost Me, John Johanna + Iko Chérie dj

JAMES HOWARD — the full band album launch for new record Power Ballads and The Wash, this show will be the third and final instalment of James' residency at SJQ. Expect to hear the Mike Lindsay-produced album played in its entirety, with songs described as “more Scott Walker than Bryan Adams” (The Big Takeover) and “sophisticated and rich” (God Is in the TV). Copies of the record will be available for sale at the gig, or can be bought in advance with a ticket for a tastier price.

ME LOST ME — We’re very pleased to be joined by Jayne Dent, aka Me Lost Me, whose wonderfully inventive music we’ve been fans of for years. Mixing experimental folk, art pop and atmospheric electronics, her songs have been described by The Guardian as “stripping folk back to its bones while letting its future echoes bleed out”. Her brilliant fourth album, This Material Moment, came out on Upset the Rhythm in 2025,

JOHN JOHANNA — A dear friend and frequent musical collaborator of James’, Norfolk-based songwriter John Johanna makes glory-bound music drawing on psychedelic folk, gospel blues, ancient ballads and mystical traditions. His latest album, New Moon Pangs (2025), is a wonderful collection of folk-rock songs that draws on material from the last five centuries, and was recorded at London’s Total Refreshment Centre just down the road from SJQ.

Spinning tunes for us will be the beautiful force of nature that is Iko Chérie !
