About the venue: A German-influenced restaurant and cocktail bar rated 4.6 from around 750 reviews, mid-priced. Note the hours carefully: closed Mondays, and closing at 9pm Tuesday to Thursday — so a 7pm start gives only two hours. Reviewers praise the food strongly and describe a well-designed, characterful room.

Getting there: The venue is on Michigan Avenue in Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighbourhood and a short distance west of downtown. The QLine streetcar runs along Woodward rather than here, so most attendees will drive or take a rideshare. An AirGarage lot at 2274 14th Street is five minutes' walk, open 24 hours, and unusually well reviewed at a full five stars — reviewers note no app download is required.
