<strong>A Dramatised Reading, Discussion & Audiovisual Presentation</strong> <strong>An NCPA Library Presentation</strong> Award-winning Indian poet <strong>Randhir Khare</strong>, who keeps alive the age-old folkloric tradition of song-poem chanting, is joined by actor <strong>Girish Khare</strong>, known for his rich baritone and emotive performance style, and prominent poetry performance artiste and voice archivist <strong>Nadia Sen Sharma</strong> in a session of reading and discussion based on Khare’s new collection of prayer-poems <em>The Book of Dawn</em> published by Red River Press. After 40 volumes of poetry and prose comes this collection, which is a pure distillation of Randhir Khare’s finest folk poetry inspired by the many shamans he has lived with in the dark woods of the Indian sub-continent. Brought to the stage through earthy and spiritual chants, the presentation celebrates the regenerative power of nature. He has previously collaborated with shamans from four indigenous communities, an Iranian Sufi group, a Kutchi folk performer, an Urdu poet-singer, contemporary bards and A. R. Rahman. Among Khare’s numerous awards are the Pegasus Gold Medal for Poetry given by the Union of Bulgarian Writers, The Palash Award for his lifetime contribution to culture and the Sanskriti Award.
