Short Film Screenings
An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with White Wall Screenings
Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.

Wee (The Termite)
Assamese with English Subtitles (16 mins)
For 40-year-old Rahul, his ancestral estate in Guwahati is not a home; it is an asset. Like many of his generation, commercial considerations and personal convenience have long replaced sentimental connections to the past. After a decade in Mumbai, he returns with a cold liquidation strategy—sell the house, erase his roots and fund a modern life with his girlfriend. Rahul’s return is a sacred homecoming for his waiting uncle (khura) and the fiercely loyal manservant , Dimbeswar. The clash of values turns devastating when Rahul discovers the land was long ago forfeited to cover deep family debts. Trapped by his own desperation, Rahul refuses to accept defeat. As he resorts to a criminal scheme to reclaim the fortune he believes he is owed, he begins to systematically hollow out his own soul. Like the titular termite, Rahul’s hyper-individualism slowly eats away at the very foundations of the family that reared him, ultimately forcing a tragic reckoning between modern greed and ancestral honor.

That’s A Wrap
Hindi, English with English Subtitles (22 mins)
As the cast and crew prepare to wrap up the shoot of an indie drama film on the final day of the filming, the central characters, portrayed by a real-life married couple, are set to shoot the film’s emotional climax—a scene that will define both their characters and the entire story. However, as the day progresses the divide between the fictional narrative and their real-life marriage begins to fade. As the couple works through the scene, their hidden grievances, insecurities and unspoken truths begin to surface. When they finally nail the last take, a moment of perfect cinematic catharsis, it is clear that the masks they’ve been wearing have been stripped away entirely. As the film wraps, the couple must face the raw truth of who they are—both as characters and as a married couple.
