With visual projection by Professor Andrew F. Scott and Matthew Unkenholz. Pianist and composer Fabian Almazan is joined by bassist Linda May Han Oh and drummer Mark Whitfield Jr. for an evening of music exploring memory, ancestry, ecology and the human connection to the natural world.
Born in Cuba, Almazan has dedicated recent years to expanding his practice in both content and form - shaping work that weaves together sound, image, improvisation and environmental reflection.
Together, the three artists bring Grammy-nominated and Grammy Award-winning careers, along with extensive experience performing with the leading improvisers of their generation. This appearance marks Almazan's return to UT Dallas and continues his collaborations with faculty member Andrew Scott and Matthew Unkenholz, which began with Sound and Light and Caravan: A Revolution on the Road and most recently with We Call This Home at Miami's Koubek Center in 2022.
Complimentary tickets available for anyone with a valid school ID. Any school, anywhere. Faculty and staff too! For advanced comp tickets, please visit the University Theatre Box Office, open every Monday-Friday from 2pm-5pm.
