Join us for an exhibition tour and curator discussion in celebration of the new exhibition Where Do We Go from Here?: The History and Future of Sex Education in the United States, on view in the Morris Library Information Room from August 25 through December 18, 2026.
Where Do We Go from Here explores the complex history of sex education through a wide range of materials spanning from the early 20th century to the present. The exhibition brings together school curricula, legal documents addressing the implementation of sex education in public schools, as well as advice books aimed at both parents and adolescents. These materials reveal how public understanding of sex education has evolved over time and how deeply it has been influenced by changing social attitudes, policy decisions, and cultural expectations.
Exhibition co-curator Beth Wojciechowski, recent graduate from the Departments of Communication and Women and Gender Studies, and Alison Wessel, Social Sciences Librarian, will lead a tour of the materials on view. Prior to the tour, Wojciechowski and Wessel will participate in a discussion reflecting on the work in preparing this exhibition and the impact this topic has on the UD community.
This in-person event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged, as seating is limited. Light refreshments will be served.
