About Margaret To:
Dr. To holds bachelor's degrees in biology and in the history and philosophy of science from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her medical degree from Emory University, where she also completed combined residency training in internal medicine residency training and subsequently obtained a master's of public health degree in global epidemiology.
Her early global health work took her to Panama, India, the Dominican Republic, and Vietnam, where she studied access to mental health care. Her current research focuses on integrating HIV and mental health services, improving access across the HIV continuum of care, and addressing other connections between infectious diseases and mental health, including long COVID. She hopes to use her training to improve care for people at high risk for or living with HIV, particularly in the Southeastern United States.
