Yale Charter of 1701: Special Display for Yale 325

All are invited to stop by the Beinecke Library any time on Friday afternoon, October 9, to see the original legislation which created Yale University, "An act for Liberty to erect a Collegiate School," that was passed by the Governor in Council and Representatives of the Colony of Connecticut in General Court Assembled in New Haven, October 9, 1701. The Yale Library will be showing this original charter of the university in conjunction with the university's 325 anniversary. This pop-up display will also include other early Yale documents from the earliest days of the school. Beinecke Library and Univeristy Archives staff will be present at the pop-up display on October 9 to engage with visitors. All visitors will be asked to check bags and other material in lockers at the Beinecke before proceeding to the pop-up display, which will be in Classrooms 38-39 on the Courtyard Level.
