The 64th season of the Plutzik Reading Series concludes with author Joy Williams. She will read from her many works, answer questions and sign copies of her books, which will be available for purchase.

Williams is the author of fourteen books, most recently The Pelican Child (2025, Knopf), a book of short stories that was long listed for the National Book Award and a finalist for the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award. Her previous novels include The Quick and the Dead (2000, Knopf), a runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize – and four collections of stories, as well as Ill Nature (2001, Lyons Press), a book of essays that was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Among her many honors are the Rea Award for the Short Story and the Strauss Living Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She lives in Tucson, Arizona, and Laramie, Wyoming.

The Plutzik Series is one of the most prestigious and longest-running reading series in the country. Over the years, the Plutzik Series has featured a vast array of poets and fiction writers, the famous and not-yet famous. In keeping with Hyam Plutzik's generosity of spirit and commitment to bringing poetry to the community, the Plutzik Series readings have always been open to the public and offered free of charge.
