This conference is hosted by the Center for South Asia (Stanford Global Studies), with the Center for the Study of Organized Hate (CSOH), We Are Noor, and DRF USA.
About the conference
A handful of technology companies now shape how billions of people communicate and take part in public life, and most of those people live in the Global Majority: Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and parts of Asia and Oceania. The day asks why rights and safety protections stop at the borders of a few rich countries, and what it would take for them to reach the people who need them most. Three panels and four conversations move from ideology (the tech right), to geopolitics (AI governance), to remedies (online harms and accountability), to the labor and money that sustain counter-power.
Panels and Firesides
Panel 1: The Tech Right and the Global Majority : Ideology, Design, and the Politics of Inevitability
