How do you know if diagnosis is right for you? What does diagnosis actually get you? Are there drawbacks? What about counseling, what are the benefits and drawbacks of counseling when you're neurodivergent? In this session we'll review some basics about Mental Health, Diagnostic Evaluation, and Neurodivergence so that you can make an informed decision about if or when to seek care.
Em McClintock, Counselor/Therapist, ADHD Evaluation Interim Coordinator, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with CAPS. She's also a loud and proud ADHDer. She specializes in Neurodivergent care partially because of her own experiences figuring out how to manage her ADHD, and watching her sister try to figure out her Autism.
This session is part of the Weekly Accountability and Support Sessions (WASS), where students can learn about a process and take prompt action, with the support of a staff or faculty member.
During the second part of the session, students are welcome to work on their own projects and keep themselves accountable.
