Concert Band & University Band in Concert

The USM Concert Band is an auditioned ensemble, consisting mostly of undergraduate music majors and non-majors alike. This ensemble performs both traditional and contemporary wind band repertoire, using flexible, rotation-based chair seating, which provides students with a variety of musical responsibilities and performing experiences. Recent ensemble achievements include a Children's Concert for area schools ("Seymour's Great Big Musical Adventure") and the premiere of a new work by composer Joni Greene (Splitting Light). The Concert Band is under the current direction of Dr. Cody Edgerton.

University Band is an ensemble for non-music major students who wish to continue playing their instrument in concert performance. Culminating in a single concert at the end of the semester, this ensemble plays enjoyable, accessible band repertoire both old and new. University Band is under the direction of Cody Edgerton and is conducted by graduate students in the M.M. and D.M.A. (Wind Conducting) program.
