This summer we all interned at archives that centered on social movements and marginalized communities.

Our experiences varied across different types of archives: a larger, more established archive, a younger community based archive, and a college archive. We worked with many types of materials including documentaries, digital sources, articles, and magazines. We learned about using archives for academic research, worked to properly maintain and adapt materials digitally, and contribute to the respective missions of our organizations. Our panel will explore what we gained and learned from archival positions and what it can be like to preserve materials relating to social justice and progress in queer and Black communities.
