Multi-Omic Characterization of Adaptation, Aging, and Metabolic Disease
Mark Phillips is an Associate Professor with the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University. The Phillips Lab combines experimental evolution with multi-omic approaches to understand the molecular basis of complex trait variation. Much of the lab's current work focuses on aging and metabolic disease. This includes Drosophila populations where selection for early reproduction has resulted in an accelerated aging phenotype, and populations where adaptation to high-sugar diets has led to a phenotype resembling resistance to Type 2 diabetes. The lab also collaborates with clinical researchers and labs working in mouse models to more directly investigate the molecular drivers of age-related disease in humans.
