Event accessibility doesn't start when you receive your first accommodation request; it starts in the earliest days of planning. This interactive workshop, as part of the Access & Opportunity Series, will walk through the values and decision-making that go into designing events with fewer access barriers, giving attention to where “access friction,” or opposing accessibility needs, requires more creative decision-making. Participants will have the opportunity to think through an event they are planning and identify practical decisions they can make to make the event more accessible for all. Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and The Office of the Vice President for Human Resources (OVPHR) invite all faculty and staff who organize conferences, programs, or events for their department to join this workshop. You will leave with resources including a sample accessible event planning process for you to use or adapt to your own context. Presenter: Kim Humphrey, Associate Director, Faculty Programs, Center for Teaching ExcellenceDate: Wednesday, October 7, 2026, 12:00–1:30 PM Location: Walsh Hall 131 Function Room This interactive workshop is only offered in-person and will not be recorded. We may offer this workshop again next Semester based on feedback. If you have any questions about attending the event, please contact [email protected].
