WCC Volunteer Opportunity: CAAN Unity Thanksgiving Dinner

Community Advocacy Awareness Network (CAAN) is seeking 11–20 volunteers to support our Celebration of Unity Dinner on November 29, 2026, from 4:00–9:00 PM at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora, IL.

Volunteers will help create a welcoming and successful event for community members by assisting with event setup, food service, guest support, and cleanup. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together in service while promoting unity, kindness, compassion, and community engagement.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers may assist with:

Setting up tables and placing tablecloths and event materialsAssisting with kitchen duties and food preparationServing food and assisting with food distributionGreeting and assisting attendeesSupervising and supporting guests throughout the eventMoving chairs, tables, and other event materialsAssisting with garbage and general cleanupBreaking down the event area and helping return the space to order

No prior experience or training is required. Kitchen experience is a plus for volunteers interested in food-service positions. CAAN will provide all necessary supplies, equipment, and materials.

Some volunteer positions involve physical activity, including carrying items and moving tables and chairs. A seated volunteer option can be provided upon request. The venue is partially accessible, with accessible bathrooms and a limited number of accessible parking spaces.

Who can participate?

Everyone is welcome! Students, staff, faculty, alumni, families, friends, businesses, community organizations, service groups, church groups, individuals, and scouts are encouraged to participate.
