Faculty Recital featuring Trio de Chats Noirs

Trio de Chats Noirs — Rachel Velvikis (horn), NIU School of Music faculty members Mark Fry (bass trombone) and Marianne Kim (organ) — present Transcendent, a program exploring the rich and expressive combination of horn, bass trombone, and organ. Performed in the NIU School of Music Concert Hall and featuring the hall's magnificent pipe organ, the recital spans the Baroque through the twentieth century with works by Bach, Corelli, Handel, Mozart, Bruckner, Franck, Saint-Saëns, Liszt, Hovhaness, and Matthias Spiegler. These works are also featured on the trio's album, Transcendent. From intimate lyricism to majestic brilliance, the program showcases the remarkable versatility and sonorous beauty of this distinctive ensemble in a recital inspired by reflection, spirituality, and timeless musical expression.
