The Global Health Futures Forum is a new series from the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) that brings leading voices to Yale for conversations about where global health is headed and how the field can meet the challenges ahead.
Dr. John Nkengasong will be the forum's inaugural speaker, joining YIGH Director Dr. Ingrid Katz for a fireside chat. Dr. Nkengasong will explore health sovereignty and what it takes to build durable, African-led health systems, with a focus on the roles of universities and the next generation of leaders.
Dr. Nkengasong is the Executive Director of Higher Education, Collaboratives, and Strategic Initiatives at the Mastercard Foundation. He previously served as the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator at the U.S. Department of State and as the founding Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Following the keynote, there will be a reception in the Luce Hall Common Room, a great chance to meet others across Yale, and in the New Haven community, who share an interest in global health.
The event is supported by the George Herbert Walker Jr. Lecture Fund at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale.
