CCAM Wednesday Wisdom: Projection Mapping + CCAM MIX Kickoff

Are you curious about projection mapping? Come explore the unique capabilities of the Leeds Studio for creating and presenting work in this medium. Nate Britton, an MFA projection designer at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale and the Guest Art Director for CCAM MIX (2026–2027), will give an overview of CCAM MIX, our projection mapping system equipped with six windows and six projectors. This event also marks the launch of the CCAM MIX Open Call for 2026–2027. The workshop will include an overview of the submission process and include an opportunity to ask Nate and CCAM team members your questions. Each window of CCAM MIX is fitted with custom frames of rear-projection material, making the projected images simultaneously visible on the interior and exterior of the building. The full dimensions of the system allow for a flexible and modular approach to presenting and developing moving image work. The system can utilize the full gamut as one cohesive image or any combination of the individual projection channels. Both fixed media and real-time programmed works can be presented on a large scale using a variety of creative coding software to combine these inputs into one output. For the Open Call, we invite artists working in film, animation, 3D environments, live performance, and more to create, adapt, and display work for CCAM MIX. The open call, open to both Yale community members (students, faculty, and staff) and the public welcomes new work, collaborations on works in progress, and remounts of existing projects.
