Humanities Center Faculty Works in Progress: “Moving Past Stoicism: On Reasoning and Emotions” by Jacob Stump.

Join us on October 6th for our first faculty works-in-progress event for the AY 2025-2026. The event will take place from 12-1pm in Renaissance Park 909 and will feature Jacob Stump, Associate Teaching Professor of Philosophy, and winner of the 2020-2021 CSSH Outstanding Teaching Award. Jacob is trained as a specialist in ancient philosophy, particularly Plato, and the philosophy of emotion. Currently, he is working on a trade book aimed at critically engaging with the recent rose in popularity of Stoicism. Jacob argues that the Stoics mislead us about the emotions what it means to live well.
