About the Speaker: Jamie B. Spangler is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Biomedical and Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Her research uses structural biophysics, biomolecular engineering, and translational immunology to develop methods for the engineering of molecules and protein platforms with novel mechanisms for disease therapy. Amongst the wide range of potential uses, applications include use in cancer immunotherapy and treating infectious diseases. Dr. Spangler holds over 15 patents, including an autoimmune patent licensed for drug development. In 2026, she was named a fellow of the American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering (AIMBE). In recent years, she received the John Hopkins University President’s Frontier Award, the Protein Science Young Investigator Award and the American Society for Engineering Education’s Curtis W McGraw Award.
