Speaker: Connie Sullivan, NANOO Outreach Coordinator, OSU Extension Service

Topic: The Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS) provides real-time and modeled forecast ocean condition data through its Visualization System. Part of NOAA's Integrated Ocean Observing System program, NANOOS helps coastal waterway users prepare for safe days of boating, fishing, beachcombing, and surfing. These apps also help researchers make informed decisions about fieldwork; map current assets collecting ocean conditions from Vancouver Island to Northern California; and provide a comprehensive database of ocean conditions and trends. Resources for tsunami evacuation are also available. In this presentation, attendees will learn about NANOOS, how to use the data visualization apps to retrieve data, and how colleagues at OSU and Hatfield contribute to this work.
