Library Skills Workshops: AI & Your Research: What Can It Do?
Downloads an .ics file · Times are in America/Chicago · Google Calendar
AI is becoming an increasingly common part of how we find, create, and interact with information—but what exactly is AI, and how can students use it effectively? In this workshop, we’ll explore what generative AI is, consider ways it can support students’ learning and research, and examine its limitations and potential pitfalls. We’ll also discuss why critical thinking and information literacy are especially important when working with AI.
In collaboration with Wingspan.
Students will leave with the ability to:
Understand the basics of generative AI and how it produces information
Identify ways AI can support learning, brainstorming, and research
Recognize common limitations, including inaccurate or fabricated information
Evaluate AI-generated information critically
Consider appropriate and responsible uses of AI in academic work
Understand why AI should complement—not replace—their own thinking and research
